Little Vikings & YDP

Read our Covid safety protocols.

The Little Vikings class is the earliest introduction to organized soccer on the Gjøa Pathway. With each weekly session, our Little Vikings develop a love for the game through fun and engaging activities, while establishing the fundamental skills needed to grow and improve.

Whether on a path to Travel Soccer or refining their game for success in recreational leagues, the Youth Development Program (YDP) offers girls and boys born 2009-2014 professional instruction to improve their soccer skills. Gjøa coaches teach a weekly clinic focused on game understanding, ball mastery, and technical skills in a fun and supportive environment.

Little Vikings/YDP are outdoors in Fall and Spring, and indoors in Winter. See the current season below. These clinics are not open to Gjøa Travel Soccer players. For more info about Travel Soccer click here.

FAQ – OUTDOOR CLINICS

Where are the field locations?
Refer to your Welcome email, sent a day or two prior to the start, for exact field locations at the Parade Ground.
Parade Ground is here.
Dean St. Playground is here.

Can parents watch the clinics?
Yes, but from a distance. Parents that are staying for the clinic must sit or stand in areas designated by the coaching staff. Gjøa has firm rules around parents not coaching from the sidelines. Kids learn best when focused on their coaches and not on their parents. For 2021 parents must also wear masks and social distance when present at the fields as that is an NYC Parks rule that we must abide by.

What are the Safety Protocols for Outdoor Soccer?
For Spring 2021 players (and coaches) must continue to wear masks. Players who have had “close contact” with anyone who has tested positive for Covid must quarantine and not come to the clinic for 10 days. Email communication is required with john@gjoa.org. Kids with any symptoms must also refrain from attending.

What’s the clinic weather and cancellation policy?
In general, we play in the rain, but the presence of lighting means we must cancel the session. If the forecast seems especially risky, we’ll cancel via email by 2pm. If unexpected lightning appears you must be prepared to pick up your child immediately.

We build one possible session cancellation into the pricing of clinics (current pricing is 10 sessions for the price of 9). If two sessions are missed a household credit will be given for one of them.

Do you offer discounts for clinics?

Some, yes. There’s a large discount for signing up for both sessions of YDP (see pricing above). There’s a 10% sibling discount given as a household credit toward any future payment when requested to register@gjoa.org.

Do you offer financial aid for clinics?
Yes, we offer a limited number of partial scholarships. For information about financial aid, please email john@gjoa.org.

If you have questions about the program email info@gjoa.org

If you have questions about your registration and/or payment, email register@gjoa.org.
